Birker Fell
Distance 55miles   Time 1hr 30mins

A nice short ride this. headed south from Egremont on the A595, turned off at Gosforth and followed signposts to Santon Bridge, then signs to Eskdale Green, then just past the King George V pub followed signs to Broughton.

This is a great little road for getting away from the trunk road to Broughton and I wonder why I don't use it more often, as it actually takes less time.

The road isn't too bumpy although I wouldn't like to ride it on a hardtail. A good little ride out for an evening spin, nice views and depending what time you go there's a cafe in Broughton Square funnily enough called the Square Cafe, to have a cuppa.

When the road met the A595 I turned right and headed back to Egremont on it, turning left would have taken me the half mile to Broughton, it was a bit faster than the fell road but not quicker.
